Writing Contest & Second Short Completed!

Hello all! I would like to cordially invite you to participate in a dragon themed writing contest! 🙂

DarkJade is hosting this contest over at Legends Undying – you can read the original post –> here <–

And you can read about the judges –> here <–

Dragon lady by super sheep

Here’s some information on the contest:

~ The contest will run from February 7’th to February 17’th.

~ Maxium word count is 1,200 words.

~ Submissions don’t have to be scary, but must include a dragon, or dragons. 🙂

~ All submissions should be sent to JadeDark68@yahoo.com, between February 7’th and February 17’th.

~ The winners will be announced on February 22, and awards will be given in the following categories: 1) Most Imaginative 2) Most Magical 3) Most Scary 4) Reader’s Choice – and awesome badges will be handed out for your blog. 🙂

I’m super excited to get started. Good luck to anyone who wants to participate with me! 🙂

I also wanted to share the end of The Dreamer with you guys today. This story was a little tougher than the first one to complete, mainly because it grew from a one chapter short I wrote for another of DarkJade’s writing contests. I’m really happy with the way it turned out though, and hope you guys have enjoyed the story. 🙂

I’m plotting for the third short story, still untitled at this point, and I’m hoping to be able to introduce you to some new characters next week. I may be posting these next chapters a little slower though, because I’m also in the middle of the editing phase for my novel, The Blood Curse. I took a break from it in December, but I’m ready to finish it up and get it out there. Wish me luck! 🙂

I hope you guys like the last chapter of The Dreamer – and I’m also posting a soundtrack for this one too. 🙂

Until next time, Happy Writing! 🙂

So, I’m a little slow (distracted by the smiting possibility), and I’m unclear on this . . . is the next story the continuation of The Dreamer?

Or is it a separate story?

    Or is it both?

    . . . ack! . . . it sucks getting old. One can’t think straight.

Lol, it’s both. 🙂 The third in the series of short stories I’m writing isn’t a direct continuation of The Dreamer, although you may see a couple of The Dreamer’s characters here as secondary characters, but it does build on the situation in the shima realm, and how that’s going to start effecting the human realm as well.

I’ll be releasing chapters from the third story at a little slower pace here on my blog. But on Legends Undying I’ll be posting from the first story in the series instead, just so I have something to offer each week. I don’t want to spread myself too thin with the added pressure of a new chapter every week mainly because I’m trying to get my novel ready to send out. I’m so, so close! 🙂 Just editing, editing, editing, and then the dreaded, horrifying query letter. And then editing that too. 🙂 So, while more of my focus will be on the novel than the short stories for the moment, I still want to have something ready for Legends Undying.

The first short story is Beyond the Gate – and you’ll see more of Jiru Feruma and Triaris, and the attack in Jiru Feruma’s city that I reference in The Dreamer. You’ll also get to see how Kriva got those scars on his neck. 🙂

I’ve got a basic outline for the third story, but I’m still debating how much to reveal before the novel is finished and out there. Lol, everything ties together. 🙂

My submission for the Dragon Themed Writing Contest on Legends Undying is probably going to be about the hero in the novel, Ashriel. 🙂
